Mason students are taking pictures of the campus flora, fauna, and fungi with their smartphones—sometimes in the dark—to capture the university’s biodiversity. They are trying to record as many species as possible in this fall's Bioblitz 2023, which continues through Nov. 19.

Paul E. Misener, a scientist, lawyer, engineer and innovator will be the featured speaker at George Mason �鶹����’s 2023 Winter Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

An event on Nov. 3 at the Mason Square campus celebrated the "topping out" of the Fuse building, meaning the structural frame of the building is complete.

George Mason �鶹���� has been recognized as a Bicycle Friendly �鶹���� by the League of American Bicyclists for promoting safe, accessible bicycling on campus. The League of American Bicyclists is a grassroots advocacy organization encouraging better bicycling and protecting the rights of people who bike.

Mason’s new Fuse at Mason Square destination in Arlington will reach a major milestone this month with the “topping out” of what will become a 345,000-square-foot collaborative and digital innovation space in the heart of the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor.

For more than 30 years, the Celebration of Distinction has recognized the outstanding achievements of Mason’s alumni, faculty members, and students. This year’s event, hosted by the George Mason �鶹���� Alumni Association on Oct. 20, once again focused on elevating and honoring Mason excellence.

On Friday, Oct. 27, Mason’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Department of Psychology hosted a grand opening of its new facility for the Center for Community Mental Health and Center for Evidence-Based Behavioral Health, two centers whose research and community services are deeply connected to strengthening our communities.

Returning for their second of three years as a Mason Artist-in-Residence, Silkroad Ensemble and Artistic Director Rhiannon Giddens present the world premiere of American Railroad, an initiative that maps American music through the various communities involved in building the late-1800s Transcontinental Railroad and its connecting railways. As a Mason Artist-in-Residence, Silkroad artists will also work with the community through classes and workshops surrounding the performance, which are detailed within.

The annual Campus Legends and Lore Walking Tour takes the Mason community on a spooky stroll around Fairfax Campus with an educational twist.
